+ expect CFLAGS and pd_src from parent Makefile
+ clobber DESTDIR from parent Makefile for children
- since automake/autoconf respect DESTDIR: bummer
+ always autogen && configure on 'make build.stamp'
+ attempt to build even libraries with dependencies (flite,gfsm)
